When adding leader, how much feet/meters should I put to each end of the reel of film?

I also put 15 feet leaders on both ends.
They need quite a bit on RANK machines, and I never had a problem this way.

K-14 always puts 15 feet of leader on the head and tail of my 400 (8 sep. cartriges) foot reels. Wether or not that is "industry standard" is unknown to me though.

You can get a 1,000 foot reel for really cheap.
That's an American foot, not one of those wacky Canadian feet.!
What do they call them?
Meteorites or something? Who thought of that?
Jeez....

Just a note;

I know that one meter is has 3 feet. But can you americans please use metters and other metryc values as the rest of the world, just on this site - when we discuss our problems world wide?

yeah, we'll use meters, as soon as you learn how to spell it. :-)

seriously, my experience from living in both worlds is that us metric people have little problem using feet, while americans get in lots of trouble the other way around. what did i want to say with that? let's use what works best: feet. especially for me who has never used meters in a film context before. ;-)

Haha! Very funny Matt, Pacini that is.

Actually, in Canada, us Lumberjacks living in igloos with pet polar bears call it spell it mettres. Notice the mettREs instead of mettERs.

Yah, I'm familiar with both both imperial and metric systems. It even says on the cartridges that 50 foot roles are about 15 metres.

Damn! Dammit! I need more leader! But why 15 feet? What if I put less? Not less like 14.9 feet, but like 6 feet or something?

I say put as much on there as you can!!! I am known for the ridiculous amounts of leader that I use. I would say 15feet is the very least. I like 25 at the head and tail. Good Luck
